MEET TRACY HOWLAND, RN, Health Coach, & Functional Medicine Nurse
I help women create new healthy habits and decrease their risk of chronic disease so they can live each day with energy, joy, and no limitations. I believe in an individualized approach, creating a plan that works for YOU and YOUR lifestyle. My goal is to help women get unstuck, un-frustrated and find confidence and clarity in what works for them. My role as a coach is to guide, encourage, provide accountability, and challenge you on your journey (and educate when appropriate).
I feel truly and deeply honored at the opportunity to join you on your journey to being well. My journey as a RN began 15 years ago in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). I spent 10 years there, 5 of which were night shift (whoa….glad I was young then!). I LOVED being an ICU RN, but I became very frustrated with the healthcare system and the standardized treatment of all patients. And all.those.pills.
I believe we are all unique individuals, and we deserve to be treated and cared for as such. This frustration combined with my growing interest in health and fitness led me to change directions and move on from the hospital (Ahhh!!! This was SO scary!!!). And that is when my path to better health sprouted. I earned my personal training certification and trained clients, taught bootcamps and spin classes, and kept up my bedside nursing skills at an outpatient gastroenterology clinic.
And then I was diagnosed with celiac disease (an autoimmune disease in which eating gluten causes my body to attack its own small intestine-hello GLUTEN FREE!). This forced me to look at my lifestyle more closely and make many changes. I am forever grateful for this diagnosis despite all the challenges it brings. Finally, the stars aligned and I found Nurse Coaching, and I know it is my calling. It’s my passion. And I believe so much in coaching that I have my own coach, too.
In my spare time, you’ll probably find me outside, or finding a way to spend more time outside. I’m a mountain girl at heart living in a small town in rural Indiana near my amazing family. I love hiking, road and mountain biking, camping, being with family and friends, exploring new places, and reading a good book (most likely outside!)
